Well we decided we didn't really like albequeque as much either Teri. Just wasn't us. To busy, to big, to smoggy. They have lots of trails tho and we went hiking on them, a lot. We went to the petroglyphs, they are the largest on the country. Very interesting and a great hike. Leroy never got his sunset ride on the tram either but we climbed around there a lot on a hike and got some good pictures.
Leroy got to his nuclear museum and that's about all we did there. Then we headed out and camped at the valley of fires reception area. Magnificent. A must see. It's vent lava, not a volcano so it came hi p thru the ground
. They have put p in a walkway for all thru the bottom of the floor. The things you see, flowers coming up where you wouldn't expect is something all should see. I found it way more interesting that mt St. Helens. It was great. Then last nite we stayed at a bottomless lakes state park. You are in the floor of this canyon where there are 8 lakes. Didn't get all the info there but didn't do any hiking and where there a very short time. Today we went to roswell New Mexico to visit my alien family. Seems no ones around so we took pictures, looked at the museum and now are on our way towards carlsbad. Diana
We rescued a Shepard type dog on the freeway and took him to a non kill shelter yest. Sweet little thing named sugar. Seems we continue on our journey of rescuing dogs.

Tues. 2/25
Well we left Santa Fe this morning. Then we came to Albuquerque. Got here about noon. We started out to check out a suburb someone suggested to us. We didn't like it. Then we went to the tram that goes up the mt. It was closed today (tues each week) for its weekly maintenance. It goes up 2 miles and is about 2miles off the ground., I am not sure if I have the stats right but it's high! I think Leroy wants to ride on it tomorrow. He is not asking me to. Thank goodness. I could do it but prefer to not. Anyhow while we were there poking around we found some trails. So we got some hiking in and climbed on rocks, it was great fun and nice hiking surface. I of course, had to get stuck in one spot and then went crashing down face first. I fell on the ground, no. Ivs fall but fell face first and hit my head on a rock. Just what I need is another head injury, but at least it gives me an excuse for my behavior.
Let's see, it was brought get to my attention my last post wasn't real clear. I was so tired I reread it and it was not real clear. I had a blast in texas. Getting to know my dog friend Ann and see her dogs and running agility. I walked away with some great tips and help from her. Then we got together with my other dog friend Lori and had another blast. Felt as I has known her for years even tho till this time we didn't know each other real well. Anyhow she gave us a couple of herding lessons and she taught us so much, we walked away with so much information. I got so much out of it and in practicing it Iris and I have gotten closer and have so much better understanding of each other. Herding was great and we want to take it further. I think they both, especially Iris, have a potential for it. Now if their slow old handlers can do it.
I have to share. I know many of you don't like birds, but my lovebirds are so funny. They make me laugh even when I am down, they share a wolf whistle with each doing one note. They love me, and the girl Ella is hormonal now. It's spring and birds can get funny in the spring. But she loves me so tonight she is riding around on my shoulder. She decides my earings see interesting, then my glasses, then my necklace. Then she decides that I need grooming and she digs in my hair to find the purple ones and only grooms them. She is so darn funny. God knows just what I need when I need it.
It was a nice day with great temps and sun and activity. Unfortunately I have a headache which was not made better when Leroy opened a cupboard and a box of crackers hit me in the head. My poor head, good thing it is hard huh?
Oh when we got back from our hike we went to a dog park near by. Iris met a nice bunch of dogs (I always screen them first) and proceeded to just bark. She doesn't play, she just gets excited and walks around and barks. The other dogs don't even like it, and one guy asked me night if she did that all the time. Unfortunately I had to say yes, tho she has improved. He said she takes bark in the park to literally. Then in the small dog park Leroy took sallee in and she promptly decided to chase full bore (all on prey drive) another small dog. We caught her and yanked her out. That is totally unacceptable by any dog, even my own. Terrorizing is not ok. Poor owner was mortified and left, with our profuse apologies that don't help at all. She has NEVER done that before but she will be closely monitored and not allowed to do it again, I was mortified myself and very upset, as was Leroy. Because of that diesel had the small dog park to himself and Leroy said he really enjoyed himself. So moral of the story they all need time alone, just like kids I guess.
Think that is all. we may stick around one more nite so we can hike some other places and Leroy has a museum he wants to see. Nuclear something or other. Not on my agenda.
Please forgive my typing errors and not checking spell check right. I write these long ones and then I don't know how to get in all on so I can correct it.
