thurs 11/7

Well we arrived in Branson yest afternoon.  We got tickets (a package deal) for some two bit shows but may be interesting.  One is the 12 iris tenors, a country group, a Xmas show, and a family variety show.  Cheap enough tickets so i can walk out if i want, ha ha.
We spent a nite in Springfield and i met a bunch of dog shows as there was one comming up there this weekend.  So got lots of hints and links and things from people and it was a nice time.
Before that we spent the day in El Dorado Springs MO.  We looked up my dads grave.  Took a bit of work to find but with a map obtained from city hall we found it, after some leg work.  Someone has been keeping it up.Not sure but think his wife had family down here which is how he ended up here.  I went to the paper and got a copy of his obit out of a very old book that took two of us to hold to make a copy from.Making the copy was quite the ordeal and rather funny.  It was killing my bad arm and i was so sorry I hadn't made Leroy go in with me and he could have been managing this huge hard bound volume of papers from 1991.
He wasn't a very nice man so not sure it was worth it but now we have the info we needed for genealogy. He didn't leave a very nice legacy.
When we got here to Branson we got a campground, not the one we planned on but maybe even a better one. Its called Cooper Creek and it is on the lake (or river i would call it).  In the woods, full of leaves, still some colored leaves on the trees and very very peaceful.
We went down town today and down at The Landing, the old section of town on the river is a long trail so we walked on that and thru the street between the shops (cobblestone and no cars) and it was so peaceful.  People kept saying how pretty we were but Leroy says they didn't mean us but the Dogs.  I beg to differ, I am sure it was aimed at us. :)   It was such a nice walking place, I promised the dogs we would walk there every day while we were here.
There is a cat sanctuary here (wild cats) and it is a rescue for big cats.  I think we may run out there and see that.
I am suffering from headaches daily.  They must be allergy, seasonal headaches, which i rarely get anymore but have now.  i think its the area and the trees or such.  Kinda started when we got here and it hasn't let up.  We are deep in the Ozarks right now.  Beautiful all around, lovely sunsets, but i have my worst times in the fall and the area seems to be contributing to it.
We ended up having our car battery go dead in the walmart parking lot.  Obviously it was the battery.  The auto department tried to charge it before they left for the day but no luck.  They went home.    The battery that Leroy had gotten from the auto department was the wrong one.  We couldn't return it because the auto department was closed.Leroy called our insurance, they came and jumped it and the guy told us that one of the cells was dead. So it ran till we got home.  This am two fellow campers jumped it and Leroy took it down and got the right battery and returned the old one. So now that is fixed.
I forgot to say that Branson is whole hog into honoring their veterans.  Especially this weekend.  Vets from all over come into town for this.  So Leroy registered and hopefully it will give him something.  He is quite pleased that everyone thanks him for his service.  He did two tours in Vietnam and when they came back they did not get thank yous.  As he said, old veterans did not think of it as a war and the radicals were still out there so you didn't make a big deal of having been in the service, you just didn't mention it. So maybe this will make him feel better about all that time.
