quiet day

A brighter day but still overcast. Pretty quiet here.  Some more campers comming in but by no means crowded or full.   We stayed home today.  Did bills and financial stuff, walked the dogs a couple of times or three, can't remember.  We played mini golf and i lost all the games, surprise surprise.  I dug out the machine and started some small projects.  Heading to bed early.  Kinda draggy today, both of us, probably just tired.  Its hell having fun when your old, it wears you right out.

Misty ocean day

Today it was overcast and misty most of the day.  It has been bright here but overcast and no rain, kinda cool but still no jacket needed.  Today i had to wear my heavier sweatshirt out on the beach.
We farted around here to long this am to accomplish much.  I didn't get my mile walk in, i opted for a shower instead. We went to ocean shores and went to the interpretive center which was pretty amazing.  We went to the beach and let the dogs run.  I should say Leroy went down right away in the am to check on wind but there wasn't any.  By the time we got done at the center the wind was picking up so we went to the beach.  I tried to fly my kite but i can't and i didn't want Leroy to waste all his time trying to teach me so i packed it up again.  I roamed the beach and let the dogs run wild for a while, till Sallee started eating shells and then her wild time came to an end.  Diesels came to an end shortly too, partly cause he gets too tired, and partly cause i have to watch him constantly, hes a little ankle bitter or can be so i don't trust him. So it ended up being myself and Iris and we roamed the beach and practiced obedience and dance and not barking.  It was a fruitful walk just the two of us.  I spent a little time in the car sketching and after another walk Leroy was ready to come back.  But by then it was 7pm so we had to stop and eat or it gets to late for me.  I am living on 1/2 of what i was eating and I am hungry all the time.  So we stopped and had fish.  I had some absolutely great crab cakes and he had halibut and chips.  Now its almost 9 we are home, fed the animals and as soon as i clean up i plan on relaxing and how long that goes depends, ha ha.  We have been hitting the sack early that is for sure.  We are in bed by 11 and even with my not sleeping i am in bed by 1 usually.  May watch a bit of netflix.  Watched all the vicar shows so now we are watching orange is the new black.  a bit graphic but good acting and tinges of humor. Tho it really isn't a comedy.  It is based after a true story.
Nothing terribly hilarious today, just a few tears shed by me when i couldn't get my kite up and i tried so hard.  I didn't want Leroy getting frustrated with me and wasting all his time so i quit and bucked up.
Maybe i can get some pictures posted tomorrow.

another great day

Well 2 days of things off my bucket list, tho think i would like to do them more before i die.  Yesterday was the moped or scooter.  Today i got back on a horse after 30 years.  I rode a horse (Chester) down the beach.  I have wanted to go riding on the beach since i was a kid.  Today i did it.  Granted it was part of a group and it wasn't the best horses in the world but he was good and a bit spirited, wanted to go speeds i couldn't go because of the group and wanting spots he shouldn't have so it took something on my part.  I found i still have my seat (an expression meaning i still sit well in the saddle at different speeds) and I remember most of what i knew all those years ago.  I rode for many years, 30 , so guess i rode as much as i didn't ride.  It was wonderful.  Leroy drove a few spots and took pictures and wondered why i didn't see him, tho he knew i was in a zone.  I was.  The sand, surf and the horse are all i knew, it was totally great.  I will dream about it tonight.  I posted one picture on face book but will post more here as it really wasn't the best one. I can only say, it brought many memories as i rode along and I thank ol Chester for giving them to me again.  God had to have a hand in the last two days.  All has gone well and i didn't kill or mame myself, so he must have been looking out for me.  As i said on facebook, who says a 66 year old fat grey haired ole lady can't still experience and try new things.
So today after my one mile walk, my ride, we walked on the beach and the jetty and drove around.  Man are houses cheap here.  The dogs had a chance to run wild on the beach another day.  Each day they build up endurance i am sure but are sooooo tired when we come back.  We all are.  The exercise and the fresh aire are so great.  Of course have worked on my little foam project but not gotten any real sewing in.
We still need to play mini golf and play pool, as they are here at the resort.  We may drive go carts too if it isn't too expensive and we want to take the bikes into town and ride on those great flat streets/roads.
Don't think i have anything to report on my doing dumb things side, at least for today.  We went to the interpretive center but it was closing so will hit that another day this week.

monday

we had an interesting start to the day.  we don't have septic hookup here just dump stations.  Well the tank filled up probably cause the black water tank seems to be plugging lately.  So we had to pack up, not a big deal but not what we planned to do this am, and we went to the dump station down at the club house and got that working again.  Then back to reset up, also not a big deal,  and then we decided to start our day.  i started on a really cute little project of kinda a quilting project, some new deal that's out.  Leroy decided to pull out his kites and decide what to take to the beach.  We went down to the beach, he flew his kites, and i let the dogs run wild again and walked the beach with them.  Let me tell you we have some dirty dogs that will need a bath when we get back on whidbey. Then the wind died down so we decided to try and rent mopeds.  I have never driven one but Leroy is a bike person from his childhood so its no big deal for him.  The kid taught me how to ride it and bwala, i did it.  So we rode mopeds on the beach for an hour.  I never fell over tho hit some loose sand a couple times that made me stop BEFORE i fell over but i didn't crash.  yeah for me.  And i even went fast a couple of times.  We ran the dogs on the beach again and came home, all of us, shot.  All of us not moving so well.   Oh yeah, we walked a mile first thing out of the shoot this morning before everything got started.  SEE why we are losing weight. That and the fact we are eating  1/2 of what we have been eating in the past.
Tonight we are starting watching the planet earth series that we have had and not watched.  It is amazing so anyone who hasn't seen it should.
Tomorrow i plan on renting a horse for an hour ride, we will see how i walk after that.  Lots of years have gone by since i was riding all the time.  Maybe i can't even get on any more.

Well we had an interesting eveing.

We went to the clubhouse at 715 to listen to the young church group kids that are gathered here at the park.
It is a revival church from all over the country, world.  Most of them are from Canada, but people from all over the US and Britan, Figi Islands and etc.  it was quite a mix of people.  The revival movement is on the edge of the pentacostal church from what i can understand.  They do believe that if you have the Holy Spririt you speak in tongues.  If you don't you can't.  So at the end of the service they all started praying in tongues.  It was pretty interesting to us.  The message was good, as he followed a thought thru the bible and different verses so it was pretty educational.  Me, not so much into understanding speaking in tongues, so it was a new experience for me.  But like we said, that wanted to try churches as we go about our way and experience new things in all new ways, be open to new things and not so set in our ways.  This certainly met that bill. So that was the end to the day, interesting from start to finish.

MON

It is had to not feel like i should go to work on Mon.  I feel guilty every time i see someone working, and i feel so sorry for them.  I know i worked 52 years but I feel like i still should.  I know i deserve to retire but man its hard and easy at the same time. I love each and every day I have off to do something.  Not sure how long we can even afford to have much of a retirement life with what we have to live on and the economy. Oh well, I need to remember the Lord will take care of me, I need to quit worrying.  He always has and he always will.  i will do my part and leave the rest to him.
Well today we got up and after breakfast and chores and a 1 mile hike we headed down to the beach.  We poked around Ocean Shores a bit and then went out to the beach.  I bought myself a small two string kite that Leroy says he can teach me to fly.Its purple with a green dragon and a tiny bit of white and red on it for his features.  Its beautiful in the sky.  I did OK but the wind didn't cooperate.  Leroy had to get himself a new para foil. So we tried them out.  The wind finally died down and we came home but at the beach i let the dogs run wild.  They are so exhausted.  We ran them up and down the beach, they ran in circles, they are bushed. They played in the surf.  I let Diesel run for a bit while i was with him, he ran head down, ears back as fast as he could go. I didn't leave him loose unless i was with him, afraid a seagull would cart him away. We went down the beach where cars couldn't drive so at least i didn't have to worry about that.
Even for a Mon there was lots of people down there at the beach, not as many as yest but surprisingly more than i expected.
I ate to many carbs during the day tho so guess i will eat salad for supper.  ick!!!!  I guess i will get used to eating more veggies but it won't be easy.
Last nite when we went into town for supper cause it was to late to cook we met the waitress and chatted.  (No one else was in there).  She is half Indian and so pretty.  Such high cheek bones and such a uniquely chiseled face.  She was telling us about the Indian culture she works for here and the Indian event that is coming.  It was nice talking with her and she was so open.  Then we stopped at the quinalt casino just to check it out. Pretty fancy place.  Guess the Indians own most of the town, or at least the part that's making money.
Today was warm and overcast, no direct sunshine tho, except a bit tonight before 5pm.
Have to go tonight and see if my band is playing.  I met a group of young kids yest who are playing here at the resort.  I promised to be there last nite for their concert and I forgot. So their trailer is still there so hope i can hear them tonight.  Haven't been to the pool yet or plaid pool or Foosball or mini golf.  Need to try those things while i am here.
