Today I sit here and the weather is nice. In 50-60 range I would guess. Up my alley. I took the dogs for a long walk to a field near by and let them run and chase Frisbees and give them a chance to enjoy the day.
Unfortunately Leroy won't be home today as we hoped. He is at the place of delivery of the truck contents but guess they can't unload till tomorrow. He still after that has a 4 hour drive to bring it home to Denton where we will pick him up.
Have missed him more this time as I mentioned. His presence is really here this time. Don't know what that means. So will be glad to have him home.
I have to go back to Washington the end of May for a couple of MD appts so will get some time then to spend with Donna and with Jeff as well as short visits to others I want to see.
The weather her has turned nice as I said and then I guess there is another front coming tomorrow or Fri. Geez. A front came thru yest that was amazing, I watched it roll in as I was coming back from the store. We rushed to get dogs pottied and groc in the house before it hit, thank goodness. It hit and the winds were horribly strong and rain just pelting. Thank goodness it didn't last long but the cold stuck around, but its fine today. Go figure.
Spent a long time talking with my vet friend Jean Dieden in Langley this am. Trying to find a course of action for Iris that is simple and inexpensive and will work and make all our lives more comfortable. It is good to have a vet friend that will go out of their way for you.
So thinking about all of you and all I can say about cold weather is that it should be accompanied by snow so at least you can have some fun and it takes your mind off the cold. That's my summation of my feelings on weather. I love snow, cold is OK if its dry and there is snow. Snow is fun. Cold rain isn't great, tho rain by itself isn't bad. Guess I just can tolerate mixing the elements it sounds like huh? For those of you who know me,for me its kinda like cake and ice cream.

tues 2/17/15
Hi everyone, or Hi me
I decided to sit here with my coffee and write a few lines. Leroy went to Washington to drive our friend Joyces' moving van back to Texas. She is moving back home to her area she lived in after a few years in Washington. I guess you can take the girl out of Texas but not forever.
She is making better time than he is but I think she is a madman when she sets her mind to it. He is driving a bumpy "lumberwagon ride" moving van and by himself too so he isn't doing so well. He stopped in Ariz last nite to see some friends. Bet he enjoyed them, he has been missing them and wanting to see them. I figure by the time he drops off the contents and brings the truck into Denton I will see him rolling in about Thurs. We have all missed him, more this time than others so we will be glad to see him.
What have we been doing? Lets see, really interesting stuff. Like one day cleaning good, washing clothes (which i have to do again today), washed the dogs, washed all the dog bedding, groomed the dogs, did nails and feet on everyone, finished selling (or trying to) the last photos I had here, caught up on all my paperwork, did the bills, cleaned birdcages, oh and I did have fun one day. I spent valentines afternoon with a friend and we went out to eat lunch. We had a really nice day. Plus, I got to see her new baby lambs we have been waiting for. The first set of twins was born and finally, we thought she might burst open she was so big. I made her name the first one Diana. She is so cute, brown and white, a cross, and her face is so cute, totally different than her twin sister. If I get a picture I will post.
We decided not to try Iris with herding. Lori teaches the Jerry Rowe way which is a bit new but makes so much more sense. Iris was started the other way and she could be transitioned over but she is older and it would take so much more time. Its a bit harder way to start but so much easier in the long run and it teaches the dog so much more control. Lori thinks I can get it as I understand it and I have experience with all kinds of stock so I know them and would pick it up training a pup but trying to train an older dog who doesn't understand is to much. So I will wait till I get my next pup and we will go from there. I still have lots of good years in me and herding is something you can do when you are old still. Hell, just about anything is if you have the right attitude and work around the limitations.
I made a dumb pillowcase for Leroy and posted it. I was working mainly with glow in the dark thread and he wanted one that told Carrie to stay off his pillow. (the cat). Man I screwed up the construction, I put the band on backwards, used the wrong stabilizer, cut the pillowcase wrong cause I had no place to lay it out,. I just once want to get thru a project where I don't screw something up and it comes out looking good.
I did send the quilt out to Seattle to Zeke and Leroy posted that picture of him with it. I did a fair job with that and learned so much on it with the quilting and basting. That was my best attempt yet and I learned a few things so the next will be better I hope. I really learned the pedal to the metal and the movement controlled by your hands. I had better response with the spray binding but realize now that would work out better if it was hanging instead of on a table. So, every thing I sew I learn something but I wish I could see some results of all that I have learned.
Weather here was in the 80's and it was so so nice. Then the darn ice storm and cold weather for a couple days and today it should be in the 50's so it is warming up. I hope it lasts but not sure. My arthritis and fibro is having a fit with this cold and these weather changes. I hurt like a son of a gun this winter. I need warm consistent temps. I loved the 80's and it didn't bother me to walk in it so I guess my body is acclimating to warmer temps.
Hey, I heard about research yest about the menopause side effect of hot flashes and how they can go on for up to 14 years. Well, hey, they should have called me, I have had them since in my late 30's.
They are diminishing now but they say hormones are bad long term so they need to find alternative ways to handle it. Hah! why not consider eastern medicine. They suggested blood letting on me so instead I decided to donate blood and kill two birds (hopefully not kill) with one stone. That has helped me the most but they didn't suggest that on the report. Sometimes our medical system is so short sighted.
My wonderful Keurig is not working. I love that machine. With just me drinking coffee it is so perfect. Tried to clean it and work on it just now and somehow scalded my hand with hot water. Man did that hurt, but appears no lasting problems. But turning it upside down, flushing it, taking every piece out I could seems to maybe have helped. Plan to try another cup of coffee now that the water went thru. I will be so proud of myself that I fixed it myself. It worked and gave me a cup but think there may be more problems. First I will try vinegar and then I will take the sucker apart completely. What do I have to lose? My hand if I try it with the hot water again, ha ha.
I am giving up on the photo selling. It is more work, at least in this area, than it is worth. Not hardly selling at all. Can't be me, how could they not like my winning smile and personality? So anyhow, not going to do it for now, and may try again in another area if I think the people would be more receptive. Here the people that can afford it don't want it and the ones that want it can't afford it. Some of these people have way more money than brains I swear or they have more money than they know what to do with it and won't send it my way. Anyhow, I tried, never know till you try.
Think Leroy is going to try window shield repair. He found a guy that will train him and he could do it in the RV parks. People here always have nicks. He got all ours fixed and darn if Sat I didn't get a huge one in the jeep windshield. Not even sure it can be fixed, it may need a new windshield. Man, I thought the window was totally broke, scared the devil out of me. It was from an on coming pickup truck.
Iris is still having bowel problems and the vet here agrees it is inflammatory bowel disease. He put her on prednisone to clear up the inflammation around her bottom and it has worked plus she is eating like a horse finally. She is on Metamucil twice a day and probiotics but she still can't walk any distance without thinking she has to go. She goes from constipation to diarrhea. She finishes the prednisone and then goes to cyclosporine and another drug for a month after she rests a few days after the prednisone. I am leery about giving the drug so am contacting my vet at home for a second opinion. We will never get back in the ring if this is the case. Its kind of a dilemma we are going thru.
All for my few lines and hope you all had wonderful a valentines day.
