Well I guess it is time for another update. Time seems to be flying by. I was saying that we were staying at Joyce's. The RV was in for some work. Some minor fixing, some small body work they didn't get to before we left, a few things we didn't get finished before, and we got a couple gouges in the roof which meant they had to repair the roof. The roof and body work meant the most time and tho we can usually stay in it up at the repair place we needed to be out because of the smells with the birds and the cats. Well there was a bit of a delay in starting some of the work because of miscommunication with the insurance company. They finally got the roof started and hopefully it should all be finished next week sometime, the week after at the VERY latest.
In the meantime we had to move out of Joyce's because her landlord got wind of us being there and we could only be there for 2 weeks and it was already longer, we couldn't have the cats there, and Iris was to big and there were to many dogs(with hers). I didn't know about the cat and large dog restriction or i wouldn't have put her in that spot. Then one of her neighbors (a self appointed police person of all things legal and right) complained that we had dogs barking all day long. Really a misconception and not totally just my dogs doing, but I did have her dogs in and out thruout the day while we were home and they are a bit reactive, and of course no one can bark without Iris chimeing in. So in a long story made short we had to move quickly.
The good part of the story is that Gherry and Donna let us move into their house. Its really only a one bedroom house and its small but they always make room for us and the dogs and the birds. The cats live out in their old RV which sits outside in their yard. The cats are lonely out there alone but they will survive and Leroy spends time with them each day and I try to get out there each day too. Sidney is a bit bent out of shape about it and won't love me up when i am there. Hopefully they will fall back into place when we all get back in our home. And the RV really is home.
So we moved in here at Taylor's and found that Gherry is not as well as we thought. He had pneumonia but got pericarditis and then developed heart failure. He is weak, short of breath, and has no energy to do things around here that need to be done and unfortunately hasn't had for a while so things are pretty backed up and overgrown. So the good Lord brought us here for a reason. We had made the decision to go where the good Lord lead us and evidently it is here. Poor Donna was about overwhelmed and lucky she was still going. She is due to have surgery on her knee (replacement) the 11th of august and her shoulder is bad so she hasn't been able to do much either, plus she still works full time. That and trying to take care of Gherry and run him back and forth to MD appts hasn't left her much free time to do anything extra. So we said we were brought here at this time for a reason and we would be around the summer to help her. Gherry is finally accepting help as he knows these things need to be done.
So we have been mowing and trimming and weeding, and I have been helping Donna muck out her house as she is trying to clean things out to make more room. Since that is my forte and I love it I have been actually having fun. That and the fact I get to clean her house (that has been Gherrys job) and do things like that, has kept me busy and also enjoying myself. Leroy is working his butt off but I figure if he gets sore enough and tired enough it will help him remember why we DID sell the house.
So that is where we are for the time being. When the RV comes back we need to find someone who will put our RV up as there isn't room here or find a place to stay as we will be staying on the island for the summer until we get them on the road to recovery or ability to manage on their own. They have told Gherry that it will take him 3 mo to fix this crisis and it will remain a chronic condition tho he should improve to a better level that where he is now. Whether they can remain here on this parcel of land in this old home will remain to be seen but if we can help them get thru the summer leaving here may be a while off.
So lets see, what have we done besides this. Donna and I hit a garage sale this am that had some quilt material on its list. We met the sweetest elderly couple(a lot more elderly than they look is for sure) and just had such a fun morning.
We went to Annie's graduation last Sat and spent the day with that family. The graduation was great and we had such a nice day with them. I am just so proud of her. She will be going to Bellingham to college in the fall and after the basic courses will probably go into vet medicine. She is already working at the vet clinic now. And she would be sooooooo good at it. She has such a gift and way with animals.
Oh we traded our little Kia Sportage in on a used Jeep Liberty. Leroy hated the Kia with its straight stick and other little idiosyncrasies so I said fine, get yourself something else that you like. There are not a lot of vehicles that size you can pull flat behind an RV so we were left with a Jeep Liberty which wasn't a big compromise as we love Jeeps. It is white and gray inside and it is a 2007. It is in great shape. They gave us what we paid for the Kia and we got it from a really nice used place in Everett that we can trust. They also gave us a 100%warranty for 3 mo which is pretty good on a used vehicle. I totally love it as it sits perfectly for me and is sooo comfortable for me. Leroy says it is for him too which seems funny as we are different sizes except for the fact we are both fat.
I can't remember anything else we have done of interest. But we are here and will be sticking around for a while.
Iris has been to the vet a couple times as she is losing weight and we can't seem to find the source.
Oh I know, we went or I should say I went to sequim to a dog show weekend before last. Sallee finished an obedience title I was working on with her. Iris finished an obedience title, and improved daily with her agility runs and finally got two more legs (you need three legs for a title) in two different classes. I stayed with people here and there in motor homes and motels so I did well. But when I went to leave my battery was dead. Thank goodness one other couple was there and he helped me get it charged and started. (they helped me last year or when ever too) He said the only times he has used his generator was to start my cars.Glad he got one, ha ha. A great younger couple. The hosted a pot luck one nite for all of us in honor of one of our own (a young female vet) who earned a very special title. So it was a really fun weekend, got together with lots of people I haven't seen much of and it was like the old days.
So guess that is all. One of these nites I will get pictures posted so I am up to date and will alert you when that happens.
Probably won't have lots of posts this summer as won't have much to tell. In the meantime hope you are all enjoying a good summer.
