2/5 tues

ok, I got some pictures posted and a few more tonight.

None from today tho.  We were at the Kimbell Art Museum today.  We went to see the Picasso/Matisse exhibit.   It was really cool, very good.   So, we got some culture today.  Amazing day.
Then we ate at The Taste of Europe, a russian resturant that was featured in diners, Driveins and Dives.  It was really good.  I have to say it had the very best sauerkraut i have ever had.  You just can imagine it is homemade and kinda sweet, not like the sauerkraut you think of.  Man I could have had that all by inself.

Tomorrow I would like to go to the stock show but we will see.  The weather is going to turn cold again.  its in the 50's today.

2/3 Monday

Missions in san antonio.  There are 5, three miles apart each, that the spaniards built to protect their land that they had taken over.  They are incredible.  One has the monks still living in it.  The majority of them still have congegrations that use them on sun, mostly the idigenious people.  I am so sorry that we missed most of the services.
Here are a few.  I have lots of pictures.  You quilters that view these, can't you see the quilts in them.  I see where Katy Pasquini gets her inspiration

This is Jeff and Leroy at the Alamo

This is some of the original painting done with paints they had available made out of natural products.  They are still being restored in this mission.  It was the most colorful and had them all over.

2/2 Sunday

Haven't written for a week. Lets see, the weather was awful when we came in so we kinda holed up a bit in the RV.  We went into Fort Worth one day and just looked around and watched the trail ride thru town.  Talked with the guys that herd the cows every day.  It was interesting.  The  guy said he works 7 days a week but he loves his job.  A job where he gets to ride a horse everyday, whats not to like.   I love that.
I washed clothes again and checked out the park and got ourselves settled in.
We met with his sister/brother-in-law at a families friends house for a lovely evening.  They were traveling thru town on their way down south.  They are spending a week down there and will be coming thru next week on their way home to Minn.  Haven't seen the family friend for years and it was a really joyous visit.
Then one day we went into Dallas one day and looked at where President Kennedy was shot and where the shot came from.  We didn't get inside the buildings but saw most of it.  So that was interesting and very humbling.
We had breakfast the next day with his sister/brother-in-law before they left the area.  Then we went and looked up an old coworker of mine that has recently moved to Ft Worth.  We had such a delightful afternoon visit with her, it was wonderful.
Then one day we looked up another friend down here that owns Iris' brother.  She runs Sierra Retreat which is a place where she can teach a little herding and help people herd.  We spent the day herding in cool weather and we had a blast.  Both Iris' and Sallee did some herding, we had some instruction, and it was a great day.  We were going to go again today but the weather brought us another ice storm.  So we are holed up in the RV again.  Not a problem for Leroy of course, since today is the Superbowl, so I am just catching up on stuff.
Plan to go to the horse ranch tomorrow if the weather has improved, if not I will make a plan for another time.
I hope to get to the stock show and rodeo this week also. Can't pass that up.
Oh one day we found a great trail up by Weatherford and we hiked a couple miles on that and saw an Armadillo beside the trail doing his normal foraging chores.  Very interesting. So that was a good hike.
The weather warmed up into the 70's a couple of days but it started the week with a freeze and ended up with a freeze.
Finally think I got my insurance and Rx insurance straightened out.  Both of us have medigap policies thru Mutual of Omaha which is saving us money vs the regency medadvantage plans we did have and will work better for us traveling.  Then I got a pharmacy policy thru Humana/Walmart and finally got that straightened out.  Had a bit of trouble getting that squared around.  Anyone else have this much trouble figuring this all out. I now have great sympathy for my poor patients.
Guess that has about summed up our week.  Another week and then we will head out.
will hopefully get pictures posted today.
